My Literary Immortality/For Whatever It Is Poem by Shalom Freedman

My Literary Immortality/For Whatever It Is

My literary immortality
For whatever it is
And for however unlikely it seems
Has already been achieved
Whatever books I have written
Are written
I cannot do better than them
Whatever poems also
Whatever I could do as a writer
Has been done
My immortality
For whatever it will be
Has been achieved
And I can now
Guiltlessly
Do nothing
For the rest of my life
As for feeling my life has meaning
I know however
Doing nothing
Is not enough.

A good poem my quiet friend. We who seek immortality must first become crayfish. As their lives are immortal. Maybe, they, too, will write a book. Well, if monkeys can eventually produce a Shakespearean Ode! +++10 Robert, not so quiet
