My pleasant life of yesterday,
When I was just a lad,
Has vanished without trace today,
Which makes me only sad.
How time has fleeted by the years,
And brought on changes much!
I can’t believe my eyes and ears,
But God gave Midas touch.
From childhood state to senescence,
I feel, I need a break;
I thank God for my common sense,
And wisdom when I wake.
So many known to me have gone
Ahead of me in life;
Sometimes, I feel so much alone,
Amidst recurring strife.
I know the race will sooner end,
May be in some years more;
To dishonesty, I didn’t bend,
Despite trials in store.
God stayed beside me all along,
In my walk/run on earth;
My heart still hums a joyous song,
For God’s grace wasn’t a dearth.

Appreciation for the gift of common sense and wisdom; for an honest and truthful life; yes, God had a part, but we make choices, too; a good man gives thanks, and moves along in grace. Wonderful words. Thank you.
