My Life Poem by Shelby L

My Life

My life is like a tangled ball of yarn,
Not exactly sure of which way to unwind.
People pulling at me from all sides,
Trying to make me take a certain path.
So they can choose my path of life.
I try to speak up and tell them stop,
My voice is silent and wont speak up.
I sit there and listen to there crazy ideas,
Arranged marriages to strangers I don't know.
At the age of 18 its way to young.
I was raised to listen and not speak out of turn.
But I new if I didn't things would get worse.
So I took my stand and spoke to the crowd.
I yelled this is my life I'll do as I please.
They stopped and looked,
As if what I said was true.
I looked at them and said
Thy own self be true.
I walked out of that room
Into a life that I call my own..
