My heart is dark and cold
There is no life left sad to say
It's not gone for good I am told
It's only gone for today

Though the light be gone today
Light and warmth will be back
It'll be there come some day
This I know for a fact

Emptiness I am feeling,
For the pain to go I can't wait
It has set my senses reeling
I am not doing so great

Empty and barren I am today
Like the farmer's fallow field
Over all the land pain holds sway
It batters and pushes against my shield

Pain may be here for today
But away tomorrow it will go
All the darkness will go away
If anything else this I know

Tomorrow is another day
God give me the grace
To keep it at bay
Or I might not show my face
