My Ears Were Quite Open Poem by Poisha Yungen

My Ears Were Quite Open

My ears are quite open
To what you confess
Pray, am I worth more now?
Or are you worth less?

If it is the latter
Then know I shan’t shun
Though truth hints at change
Dear, when all’s said and done

If it is the former
Then how should I plea?
An ego capacious
and gorged as the sea?

A swaggering step
A collected addition?
Perhaps all three stances,
With your sweet permission.
