My Crony Poem by Maureen Alikor

My Crony

when words fail
and legs wobble
when out of reach
and tears roll

when I question the sky
and receive cold silence
when I gaze upon the sea
and bathe in my fear

when life gets harder
and friends seem farther
You stayed
a shadow you became
whispering sweet comfort
and allaying my doubts

you are you
a gift to mankind
a gem to me
