My Brother Rod's Birthday Poem by Marilyn Lott

My Brother Rod's Birthday

Oh my, how proud I was
That my brother was important
He was a school patrol
You'd think he was a saint.

He was three years older, you see
He seemed so tall and smart
I was just a little school girl
But in his life I sure played a part.

He taught me my alphabet and
How many words I learned to spell
At school the girls liked him so much
They took care of me when I fell.

But we grew up, of course
And everything had to rearrange
He went into the Air Force
I cried as our lives had to change.

Someday I will see him again
When that will be who's to say
But every year I will remember
My brother, Rod's birthday.
