My Best Friend Poem by Emma Haze

My Best Friend

I got on today, so very happy,
read the message he'd left me,
tears gathered in my eyes,
but I wouldn't let them get the best of me.

I wanted to tell him, oh so many things,
wanted to share it with him, piece by piece,
My best friend - he always will be,
I now find it impossible to be happy.

I know I should be happy for him,
so I fake a smile, and pretend,
when all I want to do is cry and cry,
and whisper 'Please don't leave me.'

My best friend he always will be,
looks like tomorrow he'll leave,
and start forgetting me.

Is it all right for me to feel so sad,
is it all right to duck my head,
and hide the tears on my face?
I don't want them to see of my sadness, one trace.

So tonight as I fall asleep,
I'll think of him, like always,
and as I cry and cry,
Maybe my heart will scab over,
maybe I'll get better, and he'll come back,
in time.

I love you,
I guess this is goodbye.
