Mother Earth Poem by henry ochiagha

Mother Earth

Mother earth (poet Henry ochiagha)

oh! Mother earth thou a natural gift from above.
Given to the universe for our habitation.
We came, saw that you are beautiful and mutiny the original occupants and dwell in you with open mind.
We love you more when we saw your inward and outward resources.
Without permission, we exploit.
You applauded our effort when we gave you a new look by cultivation.
But warned us against greed and strife.
We ignore it and continue in our evil ways.
We strife, fight and kill ourselves for what is not ours.
We forgot that you were there before we came.
Our evil deeds over weigh you but you still manage to carry us.
We left all the free space in the surface, open your body and go inside to exploit.
At first, you applauded our courage for helping you remove all the impurities that has been disturbing you since creation.
When our greed and strife showed up again, out of love you told us the negative implication of what might arise if we continue digging dip.
We laugh and didn't take your warning serious because we taught we have enslave you.
Suddenly you opened up and swallow us.
Great mother earth, you are a source of joy and evil.
