Mother And Motherland Poem by Kumarmani Mahakul

Mother And Motherland

Rating: 5.0

Mother and motherland
Both are honourable,
We must take care of them.

Mother's lap is very safe for child
And lap of motherland is safe
For the citizens or inhabitants
Those who dwell on it.

We get food and drink from both
Both are on veils
Both tolerate much
They don't argue
In spite of several hurts,
We must save their lives.

We must not care the foes
For the sake of mother
And motherland,
We ought to secrifice
Our lives at the end.

Two agents deserving our great love and gratitude are the mother and motherland. If a mother is worthy of the love and respect of her children, the motherland owe to be loved and respected by all the citizens of that country. We should try our best to honor and glorify them. A beautiful reminder!

Respecting mother is great and respecting motherland is great duty of every citizen. This is a great poem you have written from true heart. Thank you for sharing your lovely work.

Thank you for this poem. At first glance, I see a clear and respectful ode of duty and loyalty, of willingness to sacrifice for family and community, and that's really marvellous. I am challenged by the word motherland. For so many in our world today, the lap of their motherland is not safe. In many nations we see governments being hostile to many of their citizens, monitoring them, stripping them of rights, persecuting them, and killing them. Nations claim rights like extraordinary rendition, disappearing citizens without charge or trial. We get food and drink from our motherlands in the sense that they house the systems that feed us, but in nation after nation multitudes go hungry while a handful lacks for nothing. I cannot help but like the symmetry of your connecting our feelings towards our mothers with our duty to the lands and communities that feed us, I only wish that motherlands of all kinds were more benevolent to their citizens rather than beholden to the power of wealthy corporations and the whims of the powerful as I more commonly see them.
