Moth To Your Flame Poem by Gabrielle Tastet

Moth To Your Flame

I’m drawn to you,
Like a moth to a flame.
You singe me
But,
I, in my stupidity come back for more.
The pain you cause me,
I’m numb to it during the process then,
Your light goes out for a while and the pain attacks me once more.
This time…
Relentless.
Unremitting.
Eternal.
Then, your flame, it lights again.
This time, you actually burn me.
But,
I, in my misguidedness come back for more.
The next time,
The burns could kill me.
I know my semblance isn’t as appealing as yours,
But, I am the one who cares for you the most,
Oh will you ever see?
No, the flame has no attraction to the moth,
Just the moth to the flame.
