More Is Less. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

More is less.

An animal eats till
its hunger is satisfied
and rejects the extra food.
It sleeps only for a
particular duration,
never sleeps
according to its mood.
It is a seasonal breeder
and has limited fear.
But man has no limit
in fear, sleep, sex,
and hunger.(all of different types)

Even the wise or otherwise,
the ascetics, the godheads
the poets and writers,
the experienced, the rulers
and the well read think
more as less.
Men take on uncalled-for
harrying, undergo physical and
emotional strains,
try making homes in extra-terrestrial
bodies, bring electricity
from moon and space,
land in distress although
they see, experience and confess
the ephemerality of life and
things they possess.
