This Autumn night
There will be moonlight in Fuchow,
And there she will gaze alone,
With the children now asleep,
So deep in their innocent dreams
And thinking of me in Changan.
Her black hair wet with the Autumn dew
And her jade pale arms,
Chilly with the cold:
When, Oh, when
Shall we be together again,
Standing side by side at the window,
Looking at the moonlight with dry eyes.
A wonderful piece Tom it made my heart sip a beat, , so full of feeling and sentiment...beautiful....
I'd like to tackle a few more of Tu Fu's poems. They are very beautiful. I was sent a book of his poems from China in Mao Tze Tung's era in response to my favourable comments on Mao's book, The long Road to Freedom, which tells of the long struggle against the Japenese during the 2nd World War.
When you start inking the space with the words, and with that nice inspiration...you inspired another pen to write another...its been a while im not reading you and when i read it here, it reminds me of old past..lovely one
The pain of separation and waiting is nicely expressed in this poem........Awesome interpretation..10+
Thanks, Edward. I'm fond of Chinese verse. I think it suits my Imagist views on poetry.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
