Montana Poem by TerriJo James

Montana

I've been to Montana
Where the wind blows up to 70
Miles per hour,
Where five dogs have loved me.
I was their nanny;
I loved as no other woman has ever loved before.
For two and a half months
I walked with a vengeance;
I found desks for free,
Painted them pure white
Like my soul
Born in another land;
Woke to another land;
Three to four lanes of one way traffic
(So in reality, six to eight lanes)
Running thru town
Highway Ten (I could be wrong)
No stop signs (watch out for accidents!)
But mostly
People are nice
(Unless they illegally fish late at night,
Molesting the prize bullfighter fish;
Spear heading the beauties of the town.)
The invasive species of the pines
Take over the countryside;
The rummage sales...
The little old men that giggle and wave,
Wondering if they will ever see that free spirited gal again,
With the long flowing auburn hair,
Whispering in the wind.
Pizza fests for the brave hearted dog,
Whose eyes fights for the prize
(Until his nanny tricks him to behave) so sad!
The heart Of Montana
The spirit of the nanny dog..
(She drives the 17 hour trip back to the hills of Ohio
Where her Saviour bade her go...
Alone. Her and her Lord.
He understands and knows her
In her little tiny kitchen...
Alone
Her and her God.
