Monday: A M Poem by bob barci

Monday: A M

He got to sleep a bit later this morning.
The extra time did him good.
Woke up to sunshine rather than darkness.
Instead of work,
he begins a week of jury duty.
He leaves the house after a refreshing shower.
Two buses will get him to the main courthouse.
Hopefully he’ll get transferred to the one closer to home.
He discovers in his pocket only enough change to get him there.
He’ll have to change a $20 in order to get home.
Arriving at the courthouse early,
there’s already a few people waiting.
When he sits inside, in the jurors room,
it is empty except for those he waited with.
He sits up front
to ensure that he’ll hear all announcements.
A few minutes later he glances behind him
and is shocked to see the room is full of people
sitting in total silence.
‘Where the heck did they come from? ’, he wonders.
He sits in the quietness
and waits for things to happen.
