(untitled #14) Poem by bob barci

Rating: 2.7

The child, she plays
with her doll.
The man, he carefully
watches her every move.
He laughs wholeheartedly
as she flings her doll
through the air and yells “Supergirl! ”
The child, she laughs
with such innocence
it brings tears to the man’s eyes.
He remembers,
long gone days of his own childhood
as he played G.I. Joe with his best buddies.
Those days were long ago.
He recalls them now
with the help of his daughter.
The child, she pulls
at her father’s shirtsleeves.
“Daddy, play with me.”, she begs.
He smiles at her
with tears in his eyes
as he picks her up
and gives her a hug and a kiss
that she’ll never forget for
the rest of her life.
