Mistaken Pretenses Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Mistaken Pretenses

Deserted, lost, alone, set apart from others, left
dangling in a life of gloom, forsaken by everyone
who ever said they cared.

Lost among the living, having no life, sends shivers
of abandonment through my mind.

No longer languishing under mistaken pretenses,
turning slowly, walking away, leaving behind imagined
friends.
