Missing Seasons Poem by Steve Ricketts

Missing Seasons

How I miss the spring anew, announcing that winters through, waking up those sleepy buds, when spring begins to warms the earth. Yes I miss our life in spring, when life's renewed and begins again. It reminds me that I'm missing you and all the things that we would do.

How I miss the summer sun, with all it's warmth and days so long. Picnics planned at days rest, long weekends just spent with you. How I miss the talks we'd have, the way we'd talk the whole day through. Yes I miss the summer sun, when all the trees were freshly dressed. Birds nesting in their leaves, singing songs carried on the breeze. Our cares were few and far between. When we enjoyed our summer sun.

How I miss the autumn time, when little chills would hug the ground, watching nature fall to sleep. Shorter days that we would greet, it's then I know your not with me. Huddled up to watch that screen, feeling like it will always be. Talks of plans we would make. All the strolls we would take, kicking up those golden leaves, Smelling air so fresh and sweet. Nothing beats my times with you.

How I miss the winter time, those lazy days when all was fine. Children knocking on the door, trick or treat is here once more, favourite time this would be, telling them the sweet you'd eat, how you would enjoy that tease. Waiting for that holiday, no more work just time with me. Christmas ends all too soon, gone's my week alone with you. Then talks of all the plans we'd make, once spring returned to us again.

How I miss my life with you. With all the thing that we would do, the way we'd laugh the whole year through. Memories made are mine to keep, for when I need to find retreat, from times that are too hard for me. Because you are no longer here with me. But in my mind there you'll be, there with me for all eternity. It's with those feelings I'm at peace. Because you are all I'll ever need.

A very sad reflection of my own situation right now. Beautifully written.
