Miro And Marilyn Poem by gershon hepner

Miro And Marilyn

This is the color of my dreams,
Miró, pensées of peintre-poésie.
Marilyn has got a mind that teems
with dreams she lets the audience see.
Its colors in the morning fade,
exposing her too light so glaring
she turns into a mourning maid,
regretting dreams that were so daring.
Behind her Marilyn facade,
when performance ended, Norma Jean
returned, but Miró, painter bard
found in her true self what dream colors mean.

Inspired by a photo of Marilyn Monroe juxtaposed to Miro's Le Couleur de Mon Rêves (1925) in an exhibition of Metropolitan acquisitions made during the stewardship of Philippe de Montebello.
