Mimic
He said and I said…
“I wasn’t going to mention him no more…”
I knew I was lying.
Here it is I’m mentioning him…
I was annoyed sometimes…irritated other times…
I said I wasn’t going to because I was thinking of our good times…
If I were a true friend I wouldn’t be so demanding…
Or so needy…
Still I looked at the here and now and got frustrated again…
This time he said and I said I wasn’t “going to speak in his name no more…”
He didn’t deserve that…
He had a couple tough days to…like six now.
Guess I forgot…
Stubborn me want to stick to my guns… no more in his name right…?
I lied again…
He said…I agreed… “And in my heart it proved to be like a burning fire”…
I knew I was lying before.
My heart was on fire…I can’t leave my friend for no reason…
He’s been there… is here and still here…he reminds me of my father.
I was in denial I loved him that much…
I had to talk about him…I’ve never known someone so loyal…
He heard I said all that…blowing smoke and such…
He knew him and he knows me…
And knew I would get tired of hiding holding it in…
Maybe that’s why he likes me a little…
His old friend said the same thing I was thinking…
“I was unable to endure it”
It was obvious…
I stood here listening to people talk bad about him…
Had to do something…
Yeah I guess I mimic…nothing I’m saying is original.
Thank you Jeremiah for giving me something to represent with.
We got a lot in common about how we feel.
Exit stage left to the next test.
I know my friend - our friend will be there…
I never see him when he’s around…but I know he’s here.
Some call him a lot of different things…
Friends of friends call him by name.
