Mild But Mortal Poem by Seyyed Bagher Mirshojaee

Mild But Mortal

The Sea birds learned love on the surface of the ocean;
They built nests and sang songs of the coming season with hope;
Putting their weary wings on water and removing weariness from their bodies.

Water, kind gentlewoman of our sea story, always welcomed them with her benevolently open arms.

Again men's footprints were seen;
This time without any ax,
But with bloody black liquid stained by their covetousness
Telling the sad stories of their mother's deeply broken heart.

The good-hearted ocean
Became the deathbed of a plenty of young lovers and loves;
Maybe tomorrow young birds deem it their enemy,
And water is charged with murdering lots of flights.
