Migraines Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Migraines

Migraines

How I wish my poems were songs
Then I would ask the reader to
"Close your eyes."

And then I would recommend:
"Imagine."

Then I would encourage the person to think of a killing headache
"Migraines"

And I would say:
"This is me when pregnant with a poem; fetus kicking inside."
Or I might say: "then I feel like a boiling kettle."

Yes
I write
I write poems
I write poems as if taking pills
To kill
To kill the killer pain of migraines
Then after I do not think of the pain, nor of the pills
Unless and until forced to
To talk of my pain
Or back in pain again.

That is when I reread my poem
That is when I see the wrong
And then I see the mistakes
And I find how some retouch can improve it
But I also remember
"A virginity lost and taken can never be regained! "

I let my poems remain virgins
I let them remain innocent
I let them be ugly with acne and pimples
Even in their ugliest forms
to be from heart and will
hopefully land on hearts.
