Memories Of High Claramore Wood Poem by Francis Duggan

Memories Of High Claramore Wood

In high Claramore wood from here far away
The wild birds of song they are singing today
The blackbirds, robins, finches and thrushes on song
The creatures that to Mother Nature belong

The memories to me remain a source of joy
Of where I grew to love Nature when I was a boy
Of Claramore wood on my climb to Clara hill
The memories remain and for as long as I live with me will

Above the slopes of Clara a musical speck in the sky
The little brown lark sung as he did fly
Upwards until out of sight he did disappear
Though above the silent mountain his song I did hear

Perhaps I will never see Clara again
But fond memories of what was today I retain
Mental images that have not aged over decades of time
That in long gone Seasons inspired me to rhyme

Going way back the years before time became my foe
I only have memories of the long ago
But the now is all that does matter as the wise one does say
And high Claramore wood from me is far away.
