Memories Poem by Ashleigh Michaud

Memories

Rating: 5.0

A memory is worth a thousand words
Yet, why is it when we're in reminisce
That we can't put words to it?
What has come amiss?
Mine versus yours.
This shouldn't be a chore.
Wishing to recall;
Can't have it all.
Deep in my heart, before I was eight,
I feel in my bones tbat life had been great.
And after that day, in a summer's heat,
Memories repressed; a challenge I couldn't beat.
I see a home
And then it's gone.
I see a face or two
And then there's none.
A Sunset, a Fillmore, here and there, who knows?
Then there was a Gulch and Shoup; a Paradise.
I can't recall a time I knew where to go.
White, yellow, blue, or red- tell me it isn't all lies.
Driving or flying
Running around
Place to place
City or town.
A home is where the heart is,
It's true what they say.
Someday I'll be there;
I will find my way.
