Memere's Comforter Poem by Ashleigh Michaud

Memere's Comforter

Rating: 2.8

I cozy up to the fireplace-
My grandma, Memere, wraps
Her comforter around us both.
We snuggle close together,
The warmth and comfort
Protruding from her side.
Glancing upwards, she and I stare-
The fire illuminates the background.
Our comforter, so warm, is tightened.
She smiled at me and I smiled back.
At that moment, I saw my Memere as more
Than a grandma- she was my blanket.
A blanket, a quilt, a comforter-
Memere had never left my side once.
Right as this moment, I feel her comfort.

*this is dedicated to my late grandmother, Shara Ellen Michaud :) I love you always
