Maybe Poem by Nathan Barkley

Maybe

Rating: 5.0

Maybe, just maybe I can forget
How the sun kisses me gently on my skin
and how the wind plays all around me
How the sea, endlessly stretches out with mysteries
without no end

Maybe, just maybe i can forget
How you created this world
with just your voice and playful words
blooming everyday flowers made of love
doves flying, no crying, nothing dying
So beautiful are the stars you made
day by day
i stayed lying on the clouds that were made
of your kisses and your delicate touch.
Such a rush

Maybe, Just maybe I can forget how your eyes illuminated this world
gradually yet so beautiful like a early sunrise
why oh why sunrise
why did you go
leaving me in the cold, with no doors
trapped inside this confused world.
In this world so dark
leaving a mark of pain
where the rain
smoothly, and skillfully without me noticing, mixes itself with my memories
I try to stop it
I just cant help it
I detest this pain
I hate this salty rain
which leaves this soul and my senses
distorted with ripples of emptiness
dying, lying on thorns, torn apart why does this hurt
Is this what it means to grow up?

Maybe, Just maybe I can forget of the happiness
and only be left with an empty shell
with no emotions what so ever
Is that what true strength is?
Is it so impossible to be happy forever?
Nothing matters, what this world gave me
was not happiness you see
It just gave me this
darkness

(Just came up with this today)

I believe that this was a man's loss of faith. Where at once he was overflowed with the beauty and majesty of god and all of his creations, he, by the end of the poem, comes to realize that it wasn't true happiness at all, but rather a mirage, a shadow, the darkness.
