Masque Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Masque

Un-trusting
Tenor-
Questioning
Double standard
Even in real lives
And relations
Confusing
The youngsters
And off-springs
Deprived of
The truth
By unfairly
Politicizing
The basics
Of education
Ignoring
Natural
And moral
Values
Grinding
Individual axe.

Up roaring
Voices
Questioning
The people
From across
The globe
As regards
Very existence
Plagiarizing
The cries
Of helpless
Deep feelings
Of gloomy scorn
Mocking
Fears of ruin
Religious
Exploitation
And violence
Throughout
The world.

Unwelcoming
Atmosphere
Questioning
The people
As to its
Very thought
Shaking
Innocent souls
And stirring
Devout hearts
Raising
Solemn alarm
Over-
Social issues
Figuring out
Political chaos
Regarding
The socialist
Dogma
Of the century
Replacing
Existing one.

Uncertainty
And conflicting
Frame of mind
Questioning
The people
Expressing
Anger
And annoyance
Niggling
Frequent fears
Insecurity
Abuse
And corruption
Fanaticism
And oppression
The social ills
Eating into
The civilization
Articulating
Explicit prejudice
Towards
Discrimination
On the origin
Of caste, colour
Creed and gender
Socio-religious
And political
Injustice
And hypocrisy.

Barefaced
Unashamed
Questioning
The people
So called
A leader
Keeping
A long beard
Wearing
A hat so clean
Claiming
To be righteous
As a whole
In the name
Of divine
Pouring out
The messages
Of violence
And hate.

Thus-
Questioning
The people
Double standard
And functioning
Of social order
Soliciting probate.
