For the parent...
reality duly returns
oppressive, incessant,
bold in its appearance;
reinforcing the finality
of a loss recalled in the
moment. Irrepressible,
its lasting impact raw,
unremitting and cold as
the grave it sets itself
upon—and the stilled
heart it guards within.
