Lower Me Slowly Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Lower Me Slowly

Rating: 2.7

Lower me down slowly
because fast is dizzy-fying;
kissing is best moving slow like molasses.

Touch me in my crazy-making spaces
which I reveal only to you-
let me feel the weight of you
for it is grounding to my soul.

Breathe on me,
granting me that gentle wind
only love knows.

Let me imagine
the roundness
seeking to seat
in that holy space
only the soul knows
and I will grant you
and only you
the rush of shocked air
signaling
ecstasy's
exit
and heat's melting
which comes in and out of me
shuddering.

If all is encompassed here
and nothing more
transpires
then it is enough for the body me.

If magic now transpires
lying exhausted and limp
inside my arms
it counts and throbs with me
as more than enough
in the smooth whimpering
out of body
experience morphing into
the deep spiritual
where heart songs sing.

It's all a wholeness
sometimes forgotten in the in between
and rediscovered
each time we take the time
to pause and greet
surrendering
what was forgotten
and every time remembered
in the sweltering
summer heat
muffled cries
and bodies clinging
and mixing.
