Lover's Love Poem by Ellonah Varela

Lover's Love

Rating: 4.5

Drawn, that was I,
Your image locked in my eye,
From my lips slipped a sigh,
As all thoughts have gone to fly.

Is this love?
I asked and stared above,
I beseech Almighty, send me a dove,
For I hint that I have finally fallen in love.

Come, come, my dark knight!
Look my way, pierce me with your sight,
Reach my dreams, scorch me tonight,
Leave me, a-tremble, but not in fright.

Then by fate, your gaze finally whispered,
I gasped, held my breath, and back I stared,
Frozen, but in eyes I hungered,
Your touch, your kiss, your warmth, I pondered.

Locked in a spell you moved,
In every step my heart grooved,
Again, breath held as my lungs could approve,
There it is, the magic that you sewed.

At last, before me you stood,
Too close, perhaps much more than you should,
However, nothing can ever be as good,
Than me soaking in your lava gaze as I could.

Smile! dear God, my dark Angel smiled!
Hungry, was not just I, for his smile never lied,
I glanced back to his eyes, there his love was defined,
I'll fall, but not alone, for he'll hold me tight.

Beautiful train of thoughts, well articulated and nicely penned from the heart with good rhyme scheme. A good love poem written with conviction. Thanks for sharing.
