How soon will waiting days get fully spent,
Before Eternity expires as reached,
Before from sadness, hearts are fully rent,
Before Time's utmost boundaries are breached;
I'll wait until forever and a day,
And watch for signs that hint of your return,
In oracle, prayer, and augury,
In altar, high, my offerings will burn;
But time unravels slow, though without cease,
And moments move along with joys and pains,
And Life, in length, will never so increase,
Beyond the limit that the living gains;
...Return you must, before it turns too late,
...Before Time ends, but more, to end the wait.
