Love Not In Vain Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Love Not In Vain

I wish I could give my love to all
If i could
I surely would
But let me give a piece to you
so you migth give a piece to me

What we share will be ours alone
a gift to you from me
and from me to you
if it's your choosing to
the greatest love is given for free

Because life is short
and can feel so cruel
that unless we take a chance on kindness
heartache will be the rule
and if in loving you
you make me to be a fool
I will find the heart to forgive you
for I'd rather be a mule
and carry the burden of love
than be a prancing horse
that dances life away
and leaves it worse

I'd rather err in kindness
than choose to hide away
because God created me for some reason
and from this reason I've let sadness lead me astray
But in my heart is kindness
and so on this path I wish to stay
and one day in being me
happiness may find a way

The kindness we sew
may seem to dissappear
like nothing into nothingness
like it was never here
and it has hurt so much
and stirred my lonliness and fear
in the deepest part of me
that those I've loved, did not see

But what others see is only part of the story
the missing part is seen by God above
and is done for his Glory

and not for me

because I am just a speck of dust
blowing in the wind
but a million specks of dust
might one day a mountan be
a joy for others to see

So if you've fallen
rest your weary head upon me
I am strong enough to bear you
and my eyes clear enough to see
that I belong to you and you belong to me
brothers and sisters are we
on this sometime dark and churning sea
