Love Made Its Nest Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Love Made Its Nest

Rating: 3.5

Since that in breast
Love made its nest
Only what be fine
Or nearest
I sing

And
The heavens
Hear and ring!

And we
And we two
In love's ecstasy
We pine
And
We fade
And grow stronger
And strong
The more deep
That the night
Goes along.

I have been listening to a recent recording of the American musical KISMET, a faux-ARABIAN NIGHT. A young woman sings this song about her new love: Dawn's promising skies, petals drifting on a pool - Imagine these in one pair of eyes, and this is my beloved. And when he speaks, and when he talks to me, it is Music and Mystery! And when he moves, and when he walks with me, Paradise comes suddenly near. All that can stir, all that can stun, all that can lift the heart, imagine these in one perfect one, and this is my beloved! BTW the melody for this Love Song was taken from Aleksandr Borodin's String Quartet. The words, Borodin's music, the magical ancient Baghdad setting, the soprano's clear, fresh voice - everything blends to praise Love and the Lovers who promise to live every moment suffused in affection! !
