Love And Hate Poem by Daniel P Martin

Love And Hate

A passion so strong for that which has a purest beauty and emits a level of warmth that could fend off the coldest of nights.
This is then coupled with the self hatred, for the weakness to allow a desire for such warmth. And so ensues a great internal fight.

A shield descends, creating an immovable and undeniable barrier against the evils of the world. The love will shelter and protect.
But alas, once more the fairytale story is interrupted, Cinderella evaporates; the fallen shield, allows the evil situation to resurrect.

A chasm of wonder; the uncharted and fantasy filled world leads to a hunger to taste the uneatable, then a heart-thumping fear.
But whilst descending to the very depths of imagination and lust, a fleeting vision awakens the sickness that was waiting to reappear.

The thin ice is skated, with the usual inevitable fall from grace. The illusion shattered, reality returns and the associated horror revived.
Once again a feeling of love becomes a feeling of hatred of the self, but once again the heart has survived.

Confusion reigns supreme. Unrequited love, self hatred; then suddenly relief, and self pride enter the emotional blend.
The security and safety; a return to the bubble, where no evil can ever penetrate. Confusion and fear temporarily come to an end.
