Looking For Hope Poem by Leonard Dabydeen

Looking For Hope

Wherever

I go in my waking hours

or sleeping and dreaming

my locomotive mind

keeps chugging with rhyme

and rhythm in a drum beat

swathing in blue skies and bright sunshine

I visualize

his caricature etched in fear

standing on a platform

and sometimes embracing a pillar

vigilant like a rattle snake

day in

day out

looking for hope.
