Look At The Demon's Face Poem by Broken Shell

Look At The Demon's Face

Feels like every cell is screaming out for a fix,
some relief.

Kills the hell dreaming about itself, the thief.

Thrills the yell of synthetic joy, temporary belief.

No more real escape, just dulls the pain for moments.

Logic and moral sense of right suspended until
the greedy, abysmal, never satisfied hunger has been
appeased, if only for a moment.

Lying, hiding, pretending, making excuses for
this thing like it's a person on its own.

It's got a hold, a death grip locking down everything,
forcing it all to do its will, never relenting.

'I own you now, you belong to me, you'll never get away from me, '
comes the taunt,

'I dare you to try to resist me, you can't. You have no more power or strength to resist. You can't stop anymore, you'll never be free, I OWN you and you belong to me forever! '

Leaving only total destruction in its path,

Look now, stare straight into the face of

the demon of addiction!
