Longer Seasons Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Longer Seasons

This life is a flickering candle
unable to be sustained in a gentle breeze
or a golden sunset too perfect
to ever be witnessed anew.

Sometimes you fall in love
during the happiness of early youth
to never marry her
because of death or some other tragedy
impossible to escape.

Loneliness is a dark and foreboding landscape
that no artist would ever choose to paint
but for which we are often forced to traverse
for longer seasons than we could ever have contemplated.
