Lonely Nights Poem by trina johnson

Lonely Nights

Rating: 5.0

It's funny how on lonely nights,
Past hurts are hard to ignore...
And old wounds rip open once again.
The soul bleeds, bleeds the sorrow of years...
Years ignored, pushed down and shut out.
Pushed away by those closest to you.
You are forgotten by people who,
At one time, never left your side...
Now, in their eyes,
You're outta sight, outta mind.
Life has gotten in the way...
This maze had me confused...
I've been turned around, upside down.
My tears fall, crashing to the earth...
I'm not here... I'm lost..
Lost floating in memories of a life that I once lived.
Once a year..
Everything from the past...
It all comes back...
I nearly suffocate underneath this weight...
The weight of my past is bearing down on me.
It's clouding my reason...and I am struck numb..
