The Night Poem by trina johnson

The Night

Soft as a whisper on the silent night
I raise the window to see what awaits.
Pleased by what the cook darkness will invite,
Just leading us all to our separate fates.

A darkened beauty without all the tricks,
Such madness, I'm forced to take a step back.
I am protected by the love of Nyx.
I never quake with fear of an attack.

The shining stars above look down on me
Just listening to guide my lonely way.
I will say, this is where I want to be,
Cloaked in the darkness, no hint of the day.

The absolute serenity is quite
More than I would expect of this calm night.
