the economy is in debt
people working, people get laid off, people stressing
because they don't have the means to support themselves
pay for bills, house mortgages, hot meals or their families

Looking for other means to make ends meet
keep a roof over their heads and off the streets
You've got to work hard in order to compete

Money is the answer to all your problems
Keep that job even if it seems common
Search for better but exercise caution

I know you thinking times are bad
Be blessed things haven't gotten worse
With you in depression and feeling sad
the situation can be reversed

When you're down, you felt you've failed
and it hurts but you pick yourself up
and continue on with an endless search
hopes are high for a better pay stub

Life is short make the next move count
and don't forget to take into account
the world around you is forever changing
transform yourself with the times

because those bills will only keep getting higher
stay in the ring, don't get counted out fighter
with your eye on the prize your future will get brighter
