Light In The Darkness Poem by Garrett Westcott

Light In The Darkness

We boarded the Urchin
And set sail for Mandabar
We knew we would never reach her
For the night was black as tar
The tempest was upon us
And so was the sea
The gale was ferocious
As every man could see
Now the man in the crow's-nest
Was drunk as they come
The hand of the rudder
Must have been God
For there on the horizon
As bright as the sun
A light in the darkness
The victory won
The lighthouse was shining
The shore was now near
Our quest for Mandabar
Was now in the clear
We dropped to our knees
And begged for mercy
For God is our Savior
From tempest and sea
