Life Was A Marathon Poem by Andrew Olson

Life Was A Marathon

my life was like this one marathon i ran

the beginning was smooth and easy

i picked up the pace things got harder

at the half i was drained, weak and tired
i tried to keep pushing through

still running faster i give it my all
i put it all on the line

my breathing is heavy and the pain is getting to me
i hit the barrier

the race was winding down to the end
it all came down to the last 3 mile finish

i cant keep going, i cant...

i started the race great and from there
as hard as i tried i couldnt push through

i couldnt make it, i lost the lead in the last mile
and from there it was over
my career and my life were ended

i was the best and then i fell hard and couldnt recover
