Life Modern Poem by Sathya Narayana

Life Modern

Rating: 5.0

LIFE MODERN
Moored mindsets to addictive myths
spoor innr barbarians.
Dry stares, wry smiles and wary lengths
define dour life modern!

Crisscrossing frontiers on Earth
like red blood contusions
on flagellated humane warmth
define dour life modern

Rich, poor, color, class, origin, birth,
mine, yours, rules, canons
New cornerstones of global growth
define dour life modern

Fine Sathya! Fine! No more depths!
Is He not seeing sin?
Wait till He infuses love-breath
and refines life modern

Sathya, I don't think of myself as a negative, paranoid creature, but I do believe there is definitely something afoot that is diabolically frightening regarding Earth and all life on Earth. The 'glory days' of the past when things were supposedly better, you say? What was better? When we were all one color? Yes, I can understand that and wish it were still so. Fear, separation, killing due to differences in appearance? Mythological protectors, the many gods and isolating philosophies of survival which were invented and made life all the more frightening and lonely, were better? All those horrors, the easy willing decision to slaughter others in the name of differences, have been with mankind since the beginning of time. None of the gods managed to positively influence or teach any of us that love and caring and sharing were paramount and a true path to happiness and fulfillment. Wake up, World, open your eyes and hearts and put forward physical and emotional effort to combine as one on this globe. If there were gods, they created the entire nightmare. What is the value of beauty, the bounty of nature when ugliness and cruelty reign supreme? Look around us and savor what is good and be thankful? We keep filling time and our minds with worthless and expensive distractions while millions starve and wars are waged. Let our ability to ignore fade and let us wake up! ! ! Say hello to strangers and get to know our neighbors. Stop eating flesh or are we content justifying it because we can say we don't eat human flesh. Big deal! Flesh is flesh and all creatures bear young and have remarkable lives. We must love all. Thanks for this eye-opening poem, Sathya. You can see it opened a 'can of worms' in me. My best, Carol
