Left Breathless Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Left Breathless

Rating: 5.0

Left...
Breathless!
Are those who walk,
Through halls where justice...
Crawls to stall imminent death.

Face tasks they no longer masked.
Revealing decisions collectively,
Done to only please...
One with dictator ambitions wished.
Contaminating ideals,
For law and order.
All to remove, strip away and dismiss.

Left...
Breathless.
Abandoning thoughts to have them lost.
As a cost to pay to imitate image.
In a serving to preserve,
False impressions to have them made.
With a remaining commitment to stay,
Loyal.

And...
Pledging to obey,
One playing against the odds...
With death.
Determining to have it believed,
A defeating of death and its presence.
Ultimately will leave everyone convinced,
This 'miracle' to achieve...
Has been a triumphant accomplishment.
Even God Almighty could not perform!

A very interesting piece of work that kept me breathless! Nicely-constructed. Keep writing!
