Know Better, Do Better Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Know Better, Do Better

Rating: 4.5

Laying beside you, there in your bed
Nights breaks and morning dawns
I questioned your motives in my head
And once i begin to become aware
This uneasiness settled into my heart
I just wasn't sure
Something was telling me
There was something about you
Something that wasn't right
So you continued playing the game
Tactfully careful of your choice of words
But only a fool would be swept
off their feet
Hallmark cards come with words
Endearing and sweet
I wasn't buying what you were selling
The on set of your actions were telling
And i couldn't ignore the signs
Which is why i provided the distance
This situation was under investigation
And with time have i discovered
What had troubled my mind
The very first day
Ending what this could never be
So you can do better for the one
You had put that ring on
