Kindred Spirit Poem by Colter Castillo

Kindred Spirit

Rating: 4.5

To write in glow of past midnight gives thoughts
That shape and transfigure the medieval
Into the contemporary scene jot
Down on the keys that disclose one to appeal

To stand in plain sight of the muse reveals
The withering away of all such scenes
As romance mused in the confined conceals
The stark juxtaposed display of the means

To feel the air drop its circulation
And turn stagnant and chill in the moment
Will not inspire such wild elation
And coddle the comforts of distance went

In time in the mind I'm lost in its voyage
But gaze not unknown can turn towards your eyes
Eyes in themselves are worlds to explore
And in due time will manifest their thou

When allowing your hair
To dance gracefully around
The balance of your figure
The aesthetic earthbound
The neurotic tinge of acting
Conceals no restless thoughts
But only shows the effort
To vacate every knot

Behind those bangs
That hold in their palm
The cautious expression
It need not be
'Cause although you may pace
In obsession to gage
How impressions might smear
All the best laid plans
Take comfort to see that
My stance is too prudent
And our souls will find solace
In kindred recognition
