Kamikaze Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Kamikaze

Japanese suicide pilots called the ‘Divine Wind'

Honoured to be chosen
Young pilots
Gave lives for the Emperor
Believing him a living God.

Planes stripped down
Fuel enough for one way flight
Taking off on deadly mission
Accepting death for Japan's glory.

Attacking enemy ships
Diving onto decks
Plane exploding
One Japanese pilot killing hundreds.
