Justification For Writing Poetry When I Ought To Be Finishing My Novel Poem by Heidi K. Haskell

Verbal calisthenics.
Setting goals that I can reach.
A writing work vacation - just my brain's day at the beach.
A way to prime the pump that
Draws up from Inspiration.
It's better for my brain than TV in syndication.
No one thinks I'm clever,
So it's just for awe and shock.
I need to keep my brain in use whilst I have writer's block.
Of all the reasons
I could give,
It all boils down to one:
Reasons, schmeasons,
Novel, schmovel -
Poetry's more fun.
