Jump Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Jump

We were two people with different intentions
yet we met, heading the same direction.
Ideas, thoughts and shared wishes
made me simper; you were my infection.

Losing track of which way to go
we just followed where the lands flow.
Hands clasped tight, fingers intertwined
the view from this cliff sent a shudder in my mind.

Let’s do this, you persuaded, a jump is all it takes
I close my eyes shut, what have I left to forsake?
With one deep breath I nodded and agreed
savoring the ground that is beneath our feet.

Leaving behind the world we once knew
we take to the skies, an adventure begins anew.
The rush, the adrenaline jumps in my veins
no, this new creature of the sky isn’t going to be tamed.

Falling seemed forever, then we began to float
the push I need was done by you, who would have thought.
I feel a tingle in my toes, my blushing wrists go weak
the stillness, this madness; you are all I seek.
