Journey To Mount Rushmore Poem by Jaime Montanez Salcedo

Journey To Mount Rushmore

See how the artistry of man silences
Our breath, at the sight of such grandiosity,
Thus soul of proud heritage evidences
Are distinctively resting in beauty.
Magnificent colossus that dispenses
Spiritual awesomeness and majesty,
Rising to greet our hypnotized gaze,
And forevermore would preserve our praise.

There is a pervading solemnity,
The essence of glorious times and lives,
And the seeming echoes of alacrity,
A free and perpetual wind revives.
At length we gaze with eager curiosity,
Filling our hearts with wonderment that thrives,
Yearning to hear our thoughts and their own,
But in their sealed lips would remain unknown.

A colossal struggle that came to age,
Of dream drenched in inspiration divine,
Embodying a nation's proud lineage,
Wherein freedom and equality combine.
To man's will in crises, fate designed to engage,
With sacrifices their welfare to resign,
Yet, reveal their nobility each day,
There, in sight of their dreams not far away.
